Are you really independent?

Yes there are no corporate shareholders and therefore PMI advisers can select products and services from a wide range of financial institutions, and monitor their service. PMI values its independence and monitors service from providers that it uses on a regular basis.

Do you charge for a consultation?

There is no charge for this and you are under no obligation to follow any of our recommendations. In the event that you were to follow any of the recommendations, commission would be generated (paid by the investment company and not directly by you) for PMI which in turn is how the consultant is rewarded.

How much does it cost to have PMI advise me on my investment strategy?

In the initial couple of years, we don't charge a fee. Thereafter, we charge a fee of 0.25% per quarter of the fund value. This is the fund management fee to monitor the investments and suggest fund changes accordingly.

Do I need to have a certain income or asset level to work with PMI?

No, we do not have minimum asset requirements. If you are someone who is committed to taking action to pursue your dreams and financial goals and you value financial planning and advice, we'd like to work with you.

How secure is my investment?

The assets (stocks, shares, bonds or other financial instruments) are owned by trustees or nominees on behalf of the insurance company with which the contract is arranged. It is unlikely that an insurance company will fail, nevertheless some jurisdictions offer investor protection to ensure that policies are protected against corporate failure – please refer to the Isle of Man and Mauritius section in the Offshore Institutions section.

How do I pay my premiums?

In all cases, the payment is made direct to the institution; PMI does not operate a client account. Depending on the contract selected, funds may be transferred by telegraphic transfer, a bankers draft or standing order. Some insurance companies are able to collect contributions by credit card.

What happens if I move?

No matter where in the world you move to PMI will maintain contact with you through the normal methods of communication, including telephone and e-mail. Many companies allow access to your unit statements and other account information, via the internet.

How long should I invest for?

This is completely your choice. However it is our job to give you the best advice to suit your situation. As an example - if you are 40 years old now and want to retire at 55 then we will more than likely be recommending a term of 15 years for an investment. Our advice will be tailored to your situation today and your plans for the future.

Why should I use you instead of my bank?

PMI recommends a variety of companies that have been specifically chosen because of their strength in that product or service. It is unlikely that a bank has such quality in every aspect of financial product and very often their recommendation will be for their own products.
